January Cabo Fishing Report

Cabo San Lucas is Striped Marlin home and people travel from all over the world to experience it. Right now the marlin numbers just got better and the supporting cast; dorado, yellowfin tuna and snapper have made for unforgettable fishing trips for our anglers.

JANUARY FISHING REPORT

Few weeks ago Finger Bank was good for Striped Marlin but the Striped are move out of the Finger Bank now and you can find more Striped Marlin close to Cabo San Lucas, last week our fleet found it by the Golden gate.

Yellowfin tuna normally head from warmer waters but last week we have cold weather in Cabo so there are still some schools around Cabo.

Picante 45 our 45 ft CABO Express release this past January 12 Striped Marlin by the Lighthouse, of about 110 -125 lbs, the anglers aboard also kept 12 yellowfin tuna and 10 dorado.

Caliente 45, our red 45 ft CABO Express release 12 Striped Marlin for the count and boated 10 Yellowfin Tunas by La Herradura, they also boated 11 dorado.

Picante, Tollycraft 40 ft released 10 Striped Marlin of about 100-115 lbs on dead mackerel at the Lighthouse and La Herradura too and 2 decent size Dorado of almost 20 lbs and 1 tuna for the count.

Picante Pride our 36 ft CABO Express had an excellent fishing month, they released 16 Striped Marlin by the Lighthouse, they also landed 12 tunas for an unforgettable sushi dinner, and 11 dorado for the count. The anglers aboard the Picante pride had a fun and exciting days of fishing chasing Roosters.

Picante Dream our 35 ft Cabo Flybridge release 10 Striped Marlin by Lighthouse and boated 8 yellowfin tuna and 7 dorado AKA mahi mahi.

Salsa, 35 ft CABO Express released 11 Striped Marlin, landed 10 tuna and 8 Dorado.
 
The most used lure/bait was live and dead mackerel, ballyhoo and hoochis.

The Picante fleet had good inshore fishing days, the Snappers and Sierra mackerel are starting to show around 10-15 lbs close to shore and by Margaritas spot, Pacific side. The snappers hits on live bait mackerel.

Picante Express, our fast 32 ft CABO express released 10 Striped Marlin by Lighthouse and boated 4 Yellowfin tuna and 6 dorado.
 
Picante Expresso our 31 ft CABO Express released 13 Striped Marlin and boated 8 Yellowfin tuna, 6 dorado and 2 Roosters more for the archive by San Cristobal.

Remember that you can always check with your Captain before your fishing about your main target fish and the hot fishing spots in Cabo San Lucas!
