August 2021 Fishing report
August is characterized by good fishing in the Cabo waters, it is an exciting summer month because the first blues are seen, however this month the wind and storms hindered the fishing excursions a bit because the port was closed a couple of times. However, the Picante fleet had its second Blue marlin of the season, in addition to three beautiful Sailfish released in anticipation of the long awaited tournament fishing season.

In Cabo we fly our flags on the boats to exhibit the catch of the day or the released Billfish. Flags for Marlin, yellowfin tuna, wahoo and dorado aka mahi are bragging by the crew…raising the flags on the boat after the fishing is a public announcement of your catch or released and a sign of success to other boats, anglers and visitors in the Cabo San Lucas marina. So if you want to get an idea of what is biting during your visit, look at the flags of the boats in the docks.
Picante's fishing report
The best bait/lure was Caballito and Live mackerel
Some of the best Cabo fishing spots this month were: La Herradura and San Jaime bank
31’ CABO Express Picante Expresso released 4 Striped marlin weighing around 100-120 lb, they also boated 6 nice yellowfin tuna and 10 dorado.
The 32’ Cabo Express, Picante Express released 5 Striped marlin around 70-120 lb, one Sailfish and boated 8 yellowfin tuna and 10 nice dorado aka Mahi for tacos dinner!
We are getting close to the Dorado month, as the catch of dorado continues to increase in number and size around 60-70 pounds.
Salsa, the Cabo Express 35’ released 6 Striped marlin for the archive plus 7 yellowfin tuna for sashimi and 5 dorado for the count, they also boated a very nice wahoo.
Picante Dream our 35’ Cabo Flybridge, released 7 striped Marlin, one Blue marlin around 300 lb, they also landed 8 Mahi by Los Arcos fishing ground and 4 tuna more for the count.
Picante Pride, our Cabo Express 36’ released 7 Striped marlin and landed lots of yellowfin tuna, 2 dorado and 1 more delicious Wahoo.
Our Picante 40’ Tollycraft released 3 Striped marlin more for the archive and landed 10 Tuna and 7 dorado too.
45’ Cabo Express yacht, Picante 45, released 9 Striped Marlin and 1 sailfish, landed 6 yellowfin tuna and 5 dorado for the plate.
Caliente 45, Cabo Express 45’ released 7 Striped marlin and one more Sailfish for the archive, also they boated 11 yellowfin tuna for sushi and 6 dorado for grill mahi!
