Over the past several months, Baja and Cabo San Lucas have followed a plan to contain the Covid-19 outbreak. In an effort to prevent spread of the virus, all non-essential businesses, schools, and gatherings have been on hold. During this time, social distancing and extra sanitation measures have been in effect as well. Many travelers are wondering when their favorite destination will be open for travel. We&rsquoll be answering some of the most frequently asked questions about Cabo San Lucas travel after Covid-19 shut downs.

When Can I Travel To Cabo San Lucas After Covid-19?

While the situation surrounding the virus has been ever-evolving, Baja plans to end the current phase of containment closures on May 30th. Non-essential businesses, which includes those in the tourism and travel industry, will be able to open up again on June 1st. Beaches have been closed, and will be opened again on this day as well.

Will Safety Measures Still Be In Place?

Baja will continue to promote safety measures like increased hand washing social distancing when possible. Businesses will be implementing increased sanitation and making sure staff are healthy.

Can I Fly In And Out With Confidence?

Yes. Through the state&rsquos initiative &ldquoClean Point&rdquo, travelers can travel and have assurance about having safe travels in the coming months. The program takes travelers temperatures and includes a short questionnaire about risk factors. This will allow for travel to resume while keeping everyone safe.

When Will Hotels And Resorts Reopen?

Most hotels and resorts will reopen on June 1st. They will be taking part in the Clean Point program as travel reopens.

Things have been much quieter than usual, as we all work together to limit the possibility of cases.

While the daily activities are paused, we’ve noticed the waters are doing great. The fishing has been even better than usual, with our ocean receiving a rest like never before. We’re anticipating a big season for marlin, and we&rsquore excited to see what else is waiting for us all in the water.

As travel opens back up again soon, we want to let our guests know that the health and safety is our utmost priority. Here are a few ways that we’re prepared for the reopening of Cabo, and why fishing is a great way to have safe fun.

2. The cabins are well ventilated

3. Fishing is not a group sport. By law we have a limit in the number of clients aboard each boat giving more open space on each charter

4. At Picante Sportfishing all our charters are private, not shared charters. That means we are 100% in the know about how the boats are being used, and confident about safety and sanitation.

5. Our crew use fishing masks, even more so now

6. The boats have always been washed and sanitized after each fishing to remove the salty water and clean the bloody decks, this procedure will be exhaustive using chlorine solution to disinfect and taking special care with high-touch points

7. Our special summer cancellation policy: a full refund if you are unable to travel in case the border is close or flight cancellation due to the pandemic, in addition to being always welcome to reschedule your fishing

We want to share some good news with you about what’s happening in Cabo.

We enjoy incredible weather: Beautiful sunny days and the greatest time of the year to fish in Cabo, summer brings all species Dorado, Tuna, wahoo, striped, blue, black marlin as well as a few sail fish.

Water:	SEA OF CORTEZ 70 °F – 73 °F \| PACIFIC 69 °F – 71 °F
Humidity:	33%
Wind:	OSO 6 mph
Fish Available:	Striped Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna,Red Snappers, Sierras and Roosterfish
Today’s Date:	May 8th, 2020

Daily Fishing Report:

The federal government has restricted and suspended all water activities until June 1st, but they have allowed the locals fisherman to go out and catch fish to feed their families.

The last two weeks the local fishermen’s share their reports and they have great news they saw big schools of Yellowfin tunas, nice Striped Marlins and also a few Blue and Black Marlins, the inshore was great they are catching Red Snappers,Sierras and some Roosterfish.

The spots that they report on the last two weeks was 1150 and Punta Gorda by Sea of Cortes side, the size of the tunas was around 35 and 50 lbs.

As always the most important thing for Picante will be your security and the security for our crew, we had taken this time off from fishing to check the boats, lines, hooks and all the equipment. We also add new hygiene procedures that the crew will be taking for your protection.

All high used areas of the boat during your charter will be wiped with disinfectant inside the cabin and in the deck area.
