Fishing in Cabo San Lucas has been everything you expect in July. Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo and Roosterfish. All the big game fishing anglers looks for are here biting in Cabo San Lucas. Right know the Striped Marlin have been biting at 2 miles of Lighthouse also you can find them at 1150 and 95 spot. The Striped Marlin are biting on a slow troll live caballito or lures, also on this three area’s you can find and smaller football Yellowfin tuna and a few Dorados.

Inshore off the point the Roosterfish have been biting nonstop averaging 10-40 lbs.

On this past days we are seeing lots of changes in currents and water temps compare with the last month that we stated slow with green water, but know the good news it’s the water has changed up on is steady above 70 degrees by the Sea of Cortez.

We going to start this report with “Salsa” our most popular boat a 35ft CABO Express released 2 Striped Marlin.

Then Express our faster boat the 32ft CABO Express released 6 Striped Marlin, also Picante Expresso our 31ft CABO Express release 6 Striped Marlin.

Our nice red 45ft CABO Express “Caliente 45” released 2 Striped Marlin boated 1 Dorado and our pretty blue 45ft CABO Express Picante 45 released 3 Striped Marlin.

Picante Pride our 36ft CABO Express released 1 Striped Marlin and boated 1 Dorado.

What’s It Like to Fish Cabo in Summer?

June Fishing in Cabo

Striped Marlin

Striped marlin are often biting big during the month of June in Cabo San Lucas. We find them offshore in hotspots such as the Finger Banks and the 1150 spot. Fishing for striped marlin can be done by trolling or by spotting them as they sun near the surface.

Rooster Fish

June is also one of the peak months for catching roosterfish in Cabo San Lucas. Roosterfish is a great choice because they are unique to the area, only inhabiting the waters of Cabo and to the south. Try your hand at sight casting these unique trophy fish, and enjoy the thrill of their fight and impressive appearance.

Grouper

Grouper are a popular choice for June fishing. They can reach massive size, ranging from fifteen pounds all the way up to 100 pounds! These are bottom fish, and can be a challenge to wrestle them up from the depths. You’ll recognize this fish by their distinctive suction mouth and leopard-spotted pattern.

July Fishing in Cabo

Black Marlin

July is when black marlin fishing really starts to heat up in Cabo San Lucas. Black marlin are an apex predator, and are highly successful in hunting the reefs and sea caves off of Cabo San Lucas. Hot spots include the San Jaime Bank and the Gordo Bank. Get their interest by using bait, and prepare for their trademark strength on the line.

Blue Marlin

Blue marlin fishing in Cabo San Lucas is considered excellent beginning in July. This legendary fish typically weigh several hundred pounds, and can grow up to around a thousand pounds. Their size and impressive fight make them a very popular choice for anglers. Cabo anglers have produced some of the largest blue marlin, and they are an integral species come tournament season. You’ll need some heavy equipment and physical strength to contend with the mega sized blue marlin. The best time to target blue marlin is on a clear day with good visibility into the water.

Yellowfin Tuna

During July we see many days of good yellowfin tuna fishing. There is a good chance of catching multiple yellowfin tuna in one day because of their schooling behavior. Yellowfin tuna average around 20 pounds, and have a big personality on the line. This gorgeous fish is prized among Cabo anglers, and is a great choice for July fishing.

August Fishing in Cabo

Wahoo

August is one of the best times to target Wahoo, one of Cabo’s fastest fish! If you can manage to hook one of these stealthy swimmers, it’s a big deal. You’ll quickly recognize wahoo by their distinctive lengthy body and stripes. They can be found in Cabo ranging in weight from 50 to 100 pounds.

Marlin

During August, striped marlin, black marlin, and blue marlin are all in high availability. If you are interested in having the ultimate Cabo marlin fishing trip, come in August when there are plenty of opportunities. A full day trip is recommended for serious marlin fans, with the potential for a good number of hook ups.

Dorado

Dorado is one of the favorites in Cabo San Lucas, and are a top pick for the month of August. These incredible fish have it all: physical beauty, impressive size, and tons of fight. You’ll be thrilled with their big jumps and acrobatics, and their strength on the line.

Cabo San Lucas is very unique place water temperature in the Sea of Cortez could differ from the Pacific Ocean up to 20 degrees.

There are two techniques for fishing in Cabo San Lucas trolling and casting.

The Trolling technique is very effective we troll artificial lures and sometimes live bait. When trolling, we put 4 or 5 fishing lines in the water with artificial lures (all sizes and colors) and we go at a speed of 8 – 9 knots per hour in order for the lures to work right. Trolling requires lots of patience and luck.

The casting technique is applied when the captain see a fish float (Striped Marlin, Sailfish and Swordfish) and gets as close as possible in order to throw live bait to it. This technique is very exciting because you have the opportunity to see the fish go for the live bait and get hooked. In all of our charters, we include live bait for the day.

We are always willing to let you apply your own technique or hook setting but remember, the captains and the mates know these waters better than anyone else. They consider them their own “backyard”. We strongly believe that fishing is a sport that can be enjoyed even more when you are patient.

We start with the tournament season and the first one was the ILTTA (International Light tackle tournament association) on his 79th Anniversary will be heald June 3-7, 2019 , and we´re we are participating with 5 vessels Express, Salsa, Dream, Cisco and Pride.

We going to start this report with &ldquoSalsa&rdquo our most popular boat a 35ft CABO Express released 17 Striped Marlin by Santa Maria and released 1 Dorado and 2 Yellowtail by the Lighthouse.

Picante a 40ft Tollycraft release 4 Striped marlin by La Ballena, Cisco a 35ft CABO Express released 11 Striped Marlin.

Dream our 35ft Flybrige released 9Striped Marlin by 1150 and released 1 Roosterfish and 1 Yellowtail by the Lighthouse.
