Weekly Fishing Report:

Week number one of 2017 done. Not the busiest of weeks here in Cabo San Lucas but as usual all of us here at Picante held our own and more than caught our share of what was available. We started the week off with an excellent Monday, with some nice Striped Marlin as well as some nice Yellow fin Tuna. Our “Expresso” had a great day in shore fishing and was rewarded nicely with some delicious Grouper and Sierra. The rest of the week followed suit with some more Striped Marlin and yellow fin. It was , once again a good week of Sport Fishing here in Cabo San Lucas.

Weekly Fishing Report:

We had our usual success with Striped Marlin, although not a lot of them around this week. Some Yellow fin Tuna but small ones. This was a week of having a lot of fun bottom fishing in shore. There were a lot of Sierra or (Spanish Mackerel) to be had. They are a lot of fun to catch and good eating as well. There were some tasty Grouper to be had too. Let’s not forget the few Dorado as well that were brought to the dinner table. It was a week of good fishing here in Cabo San Lucas. The bottom fishing was great.

Weekly Fishing Report:

This past week was off to a very slow start, is seemed that the only thing we could do that was rewarding at all was to do some in shore bottom fishing but as the week progressed we found the Yellow Fin bite was starting to improve. There were very few Striped Marlin to be had and not many Dorado either. It was just one of those less than stellar weeks here in Cabo San Lucas. But as the saying goes it is called fishing and not catching for good reason. We do go out and try our best but when the fish are not biting it is hard to have those great fishing day’s all the time.

Weekly Fishing Report:

What a difference a week makes. This was a week that day after day we were catching Yellow fin Tuna. There were a lot of Yellow Fin Tuna brought to our boats and a lot of very contented and well fed customers. They were smaller Yellow Fin Tuna being caught, a few in the 30 lb category but most were football size and good eating. There were a few small Rooster Fish and a few Dorado. Inshore fishing was still offering up some Sierra and grouper and there were a few Striped Marlin caught and released. Let’s all hope that the Tuna bite continues next week as it was this week.

Weekly Fishing Report:

Well the Tuna bite was still on in a big way, so many being caught all week long. The flags were flying every day this week and they were mostly Yellow Fin Tuna, once again like last week their weren’t any monsters but some in the nice 30lb – 40lb range but a lot of Football size ones which are very edible and they were being eaten that’s for sure. If you were specifically looking for the Striped Marlin you had a challenge ahead of you they just were not many out there. Once again there was some good inshore fishing opportunity’s as well last week. All in all it was once again a great week for fishing in Cabo San Lucas with the Picante team. Our guy’s were working very hard and there was not much of a chance for a breather between all the Tuna coming to the boats.

Weekly Fishing Report:

The Tuna bite slowed a little this week especially at the beginning of the week but it picked up some steam again by the weekend but early part of the week was a little soft. We switched it up a bit and found some nice Wahoo. There were some nice Rooster Fish up near Magrino. Striped Marlin continued to be absent from the scene. Inshore fishing continued to be rewarding with some nice sierras for those that went looking for them. But all in all it was a good week of fishing here in Cabo San Lucas with the Picante team. We continue to try our best to put our anglers on the fish and we continue to not disappoint. Some day’s are diamonds and others are stones, we try and avoid the stones.

Monday on the Pacific side it was rough seas so we went to the Sea of Cortez and David on our “Picante” spotted two Striped Marlin and got both of them to the boat. Tuesday the Rooster Fish were on the bite. Pacific side not far off shore. Some nice Yellow Fin Tuna also started to bite again. The rest of the week was a Yellow fin Tuna and Rooster Fish combination. Some nice Roosters too. All in all in was once again a good week to be Sport fishing here in Cabo San Lucas aboard the “Picante” fleet and our guy’s were working hard as usual. A good week.

Weekly Fishing Report:

This was a week where all the success came to those who went inshore fishing for those bottom fish. There was not a lot else on the bite. The Striped Marlin were absent from the area, the Tuna had moved out a long way to warmer waters. It was just one of those weeks. Those that did go bottom fishing in shore had a great time with the Roosters and enjoyed the Sierra and the snapper for dinner. We always do our best and given the current circumstances it was not from a lack of trying. Hopefully things will improve.

Weekly Fishing Report:

With the exception of a large 200 + lb. Striped Marlin, this week was a lot of the same as last week. If you were wanting to have some fun and catch some fish it was more bottom fishing for the best results. There were a few who ventured out looking for the elusive Striped Marlin or Wahoo or Mahi Mahi and were again disappointed. There were a lot of small Tuna in front of the Arch but without sardines as your bait there were not biting. We were able on one occasion to run up to Santa Maria in the morning to get some sardines from the bait fisherman and had some great success on the “Express” our 32 ft. Cabo Express Sport Fisher but the bait was hard to acquire. We will see what this week brings, we are all waiting for the change to come and it is not a matter of if but when that will happen. As we all know fishing in Cabo can be amazing for those with patience.

Total Weekly Catch:61 Sierra, 16 Rooster Fish, a nice, very nice 200 + lb. Striped Marlin, 10 Trigger Fish, 8 Red Snapper,15 Tuna.

Weekly Fishing Report:

The fun never ends here in Cabo San Lucas with the Picante fleet. Super hot reef fishing again this week. If you want to have some fun and catch a lot of fish then inshore is the place to be. We once again had great success catching a lot of delicious eating fish this past week and everyone was having a great time. There were some big Red Snapper’s and large yellow tail. The Sierras were good size as well. There were plenty of fish to go around for those that chose to go and do some inshore fishing. Although like last week there is that lone Striped Marlin, and we brought him to the boat and released it so someone else would have a shot. We will once again see what this week brinks but don’t miss out on the super bite that is going on inshore.

The same story as last week with good inshore fishing and a few Striped Marlin are starting to show up but still hard to get them to bite. We had some success but it is still a tough go. Those inshore trips were paying off for those that headed that way. Not much else to report for this last week. It certainly is not from lack of trying believe us, we try. Our crew is just as anxious for these seemingly tough times to end as anyone and we will make it happen it is just a matter of time. Our boats are ready and the fleet is looking good.

Weekly Fishing Report:

Sorry we didn’t do a fish report the week of March 20th – 26th, 2017 as it was a lot more of the previous 3 weeks. In shore fishing. It was good but pretty much the same as the previous weeks. But this week things are changing in a good way. We are finding Striped Marlin are coming in from the cold and are feeding. Wahoo as well were on the return, as a matter of fact we caught a real nice 56 around 42 lbs. We were still having success on the reefs inshore fishing bur our guy’s started heading out on the Sea of Cortez and they were rewarded. There were some football size Yellow Fin Tuna as well.

So it looks like our patience is finally paying off and we are heading out chasing the striped suits again. As the water temperature is warming up we are starting to kick it up a notch or two. So it looks like things are getting the way we like them and we should have some good action from now on.

By Thursday the action slowed a bit, still good, but nothing like the first of the week. Friday still releasing some Stripes but the weekend , quiet with only a couple of charters but no activity. Very unpredictable fishing right now, just when we think things are heating up they cool down again. We shall see what this week brings.

Another week of hit and miss fishing. Once again we were finding success fishing inshore for the Sierra, grouper’s, Yellow tail, Pargo’s, Red snapper. Those elusive Striped Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo continue to be hard to find. Last Monday there was some interesting moments when we hooked onto a 200 lb. Hammerhead shark, that added some excitement to the day of the Kaplan family. All in all another quiet week on the fishing front. The town was busy with all the Easter celebrations with lot’s of visiting Mexicans enjoying our beautiful Cabo and getting in some vacation time with their family’s.

“There is nothing quite as constant as change” and it would appear that we are in a transition between great inshore fishing and great offshore. The water temperature is changing like the tide and we have a few great day’s and then things slow again as the water changes yet again.

Those that have the time to travel the distance to that better water that can sometimes be a 30 – 40 mile journey are being rewarded with some Striped Marlin to catch and release. Like Ricardo on Sunday on the “Picante 29” went the distance and Mr. Dennis was rewarded with 3 striped Marlin.

Weekly Fishing Report:

This was a great week for catching and releasing Striped Marlin. The water is getting better each day and the Marlin are returning. It seemed everyone was flying the catch and release Marlin flags upon their return this week. Not to take anything away from some really good inshore fishing for Roosters as they were biting as well. As well as the yellow tail’s, Sierra’s, Barilette’s and the Jack Crevelle. The inshore anglers were rewarded for their efforts. Our “Picantito 11” has been doing well with it’s new Captain Jose Avina Guerrero (Chato). But the good news this past week was the Marlin bite is back on and with the water conditions improving every day this should be a great summer for sport fishing here in Cabo San Lucas aboard the Picante fleet.

Again this week we started off with a closed port on Monday due to windy conditions. As annoying as the wind can be it is bringing the warmer water in and around our amazing Cape, which will bring the species we are looking for. The rest of the week just got progressively better as we went along. By the weekend we were running on all cylinders, with 100% success on Friday and 80% on Saturday. All of the species that have been missing decided to show up at the same time. We saw Yellow fin Tuna, Dorado, we have not seen any Dorado for quite some time so that was a promising sign, Some Wahoo, and Striped Marlin were on the bite and steadily improving as we head towards the end of May. Weekly Fishing Report:

It’s time to start your next Cabo fishing charter, the Baja waters are full of prized catches. Fishing has been very good, except for a few slow days last week. Recent trips have produced: Yellow Fin Tunas, Dorados, Snappers and Striped Marlin  But the best thing about the week is that the Yellow Fin Tuna look like they’re finally joining the show. We saw more and bigger Tunas, than we’ve seen in a long time.
