THE GIANT SQUID ARE BACK !!!! Each year the Giant Squid make their return to our waters. They normally will bite on anything that shines in the water. Sometimes theyll eat just about anything. The schools of these strange creatures is always amazing to me. The return of the Giant Squid is also a sign that the Swordfish wont be far behind. Our charter from Allied Building Products in New Jersey fishing on our charter boat "Gladiator" were the first to land a swordfish earlier this week. Our boat of the day is our beautiful 35 ft. Cabo named "Perro Caliente" with Captain Gregorio "Goyo" Cesena at the helm releasing 1 Striped Marlin and 1 Mako Shark for the group from Administaff. Total fleet production was 1 Striped Marlin, 5 Dorado, 11 Yellowfin Tuna, 11 Sierra, 1 Mako Shark and 28 Giant Squid. On another note the tsunami was not much of a story here in Cabo but we recorded it for our YouTube page. Search for Picante Sportfishing on YouTube and check it out. Click that mouse or pick up the phone and book your trip to our desert paradise here at Lands End. SEE YOU ON THE 1,000 FATHOM LINE !!!!! TEAM PICANTE !!!!!

ANYONE UP FOR SOME SIERRA SASHIMI !!!!! What a treat to have these great tasting fish so plentiful this time of year. Inshore along sandy beaches these toothy critters feed for sardines and other small fish. Trolling rapalas with wire leaders is necessary so you dont get bit off. Mr. Blaschke and his Family headed offshore on our 32 ft. Cabo Express "Picante Express" with Captain Antonio "Nino" Romero at the helm. They are our boat of the day releasing a Striped Marlin and boating a Mako Shark. Seeing more and more Mako Shark in the area is a good sign that the mackerel are making their way south and it wont be long before the Striped Marlin gather again over the Golden Gate Bank. Pick up the phone or click that mouse and book your trip to our desert paradise here at Lands End. See you on the 1,000 fathom line..... TEAM PICANTE !!!

ALL THE ACTION IS INSIDE !!!! All along the sandy beaches on the Pacific Side of the peninsula the pelicans are diving on bait. Thats a sure indication that the Sierra Mackerel are thick chasing the same bait. Our charters were not disappointed when our Captains suggested staying inside and going after these great tasting fish. Trolling small Rapalas is the best way to hook these toothy critters.....wire leader is also required. Our best boat of the day was the 29 ft. Blackfin "Picante 29" with Captain Emilio Arenas at the controls. Kirk Scoggins and his family released 2 Striped Marlin within 3 miles of the beach. Total fleet production was 2 Striped Marlin, 1 Dorado, 1 Red Snapper and 78 Sierra Mackerel. Pick up the phone or click that mouse and book your trip to our desert paradise here at Lands End. THE STRANGE AFFECT WITH EL NINO !!!!! The El Nino conditions here in the Pacific continues to produce some strange weather and unusual fishing. Heavy snow continues to pummel the east coast and heavy rain in southern California....while the weather in Cabo is very warm with the warm waters surrounding us on 3 sides and higher humidity than normal. A warm water current coming up out of the south produced a Blue Marlin for our 35 ft. Cabo "SALSA" with Captain Ivan Gomez at the helm. Paul Marischen and his Family got the surprise of their lives when the nice Blue came out of the deep and ate the lure being trolled behind the boat. Total fleet production was 1 Blue Marlin, 2 Striped Marlin, 2 Dorado, 10 Yellowfin Tuna and 14 Sierra Mackerel. Warm winter days and cool mornings are greeting our charters as February begins. HOLY WAHOO BITE !!!!! you just never know whats going to happen in this fishery. Over the weekend a strong wahoo bite turned on in front of the Westin Hotel at the Red Rock. Many boats lost multiple fish because of inexperienced anglers that let slack in the line and unbuttoned. Our best boat of the day was the "Picante Express" our 32 Cabo Express with Captain Antonio Romero at the helm. Mr. Davis and his family had a great day chasing these speedsters boating 5 fish. Total production for the week was 1 Striped Marlin, 13 Dorado, 39 Yellowfin Tuna, 9 Wahoo, 1 Roosterfish & 33 Sierra Mackerel. The weather continues to cooperate with cool mornings and sunny, warm winter afternoons. Book your trip to our desert paradise and get in on the action....
